We’ve covered a lot of interesting and unique vending machines in the last few months, but just when we thought we’d seen it all, something else comes along and surprises us.
A company called Carvana has built a 5-story vending machine for cars. That’s right. It’s the first (and only) coin-operated car vending machine, allowing users to buy a used car at the touch of a button.
The structure can hold up to 20 cars at a time and has three delivery bays, allowing customers that purchase used cars to pick them up at the location itself rather than having to deal with delivery fees. Customers can use Carvana’s website to list a range of specifications, ratings, and other details about cars they’re interested in and are given a virtual tour of each vehicle, including information on imperfections and damages. Once they choose and pay for the car, they can go directly to the location for a 7-day trial period. This allows Carvana to reduce overhead and saves customers about $2,000 on average.
It’s also an interesting and fun buying experience. Customers use huge, oversized coins to place in the machine and watch their car come down automatically.
Of course, Carvana isn’t limited to just Tennessee. The company will deliver cars to customers elsewhere with a small fee built-in, but the novelty of having a car vending machine is enough to garner our attention (and admiration).
